Mouse Trap Beginner Guide
Mouse Trap is a turn-based digital board game for up to four players. Each match is a race to pick up, steal, and protect cheese before the Cheese Machine runs out.
Choose a Game Mode
Start with offline Single Player to learn against AI opponents, or choose Pass and Play, local console play, private online multiplayer, or open online multiplayer.
Choose Your Mouse
Select a mouse color or fur and equip an available outfit. The classic red, blue, yellow, and green mice are available on supported versions.
Follow the Turn Prompts
Players take turns moving around the animated board. Complete the action shown after movement, such as collecting cheese, producing cheese, stealing from another mouse, or starting a special event.
Collect and Hoard Cheese
Build your match total whenever cheese becomes available. The winner is determined by the amount of cheese held when the match ends.
Steal from Rival Mice
Use stealing opportunities to take cheese from opponents and increase your own total. Targeting the current leader creates the largest possible score swing.
Use the Action Contraption
Trigger the famous chain-reaction Mouse Trap when the game presents the opportunity. The animated sequence can interfere with an opponent and change the balance of the race.
Finish with the Most Cheese
The match ends when the Cheese Machine runs out. The mouse holding the most cheese at that point wins the game.
Spend Your Cheese Hoard
After a completed game, your remaining cheese is added to your persistent cheese hoard. This hoard can be used to unlock additional outfits for your mouse.
How to Play Mouse Trap
The digital Mouse Trap game replaces the physical setup with a fully animated 3D board. Up to four mice compete to secure the most cheese while using steals and the chain-reaction contraption against their rivals.
Mouse Trap Cheese Strategy Guide
Winning Mouse Trap requires more than collecting every visible piece of cheese. Strong players watch the leaderboard, reduce the leading mouse's total, and shift priorities as the Cheese Machine approaches empty.
Track the Current Leader
Check each player's cheese total before choosing a target. Direct steals and disruptive actions toward the mouse with the largest pile.
Best when: One opponent begins building a clear lead.
Result: The leader loses momentum while you create a larger relative gain.
Take Guaranteed Cheese
Prioritize immediate cheese gains when the alternative depends on an uncertain contraption result. Reliable collection keeps your score moving upward every round.
Best when: The Cheese Machine is running low or you are already close to first place.
Result: You avoid ending the match with an unused scoring opportunity.
Use Steals for Score Swings
A steal both increases your total and reduces an opponent's total. This makes it more valuable than an equal-sized collection when taken from the player you need to overtake.
Best when: You can steal from first place or from a close rival.
Result: The gap between you and the target changes in both directions.
Pressure the Leader with the Trap
Use contraption opportunities against the mouse whose cheese total creates the greatest threat. Avoid repeatedly targeting a player who is already far behind.
Best when: A rival has enough cheese to remain ahead after a normal collection turn.
Result: The strongest opponent faces the greatest disruption.
Watch the Cheese Machine
The remaining Cheese Machine supply acts as the match timer. Shift from long-term disruption toward direct scoring as the available cheese approaches empty.
Best when: The game is entering its final turns.
Result: You finish with points in hand instead of waiting for a later opportunity.
Protect a Narrow Lead
When you move into first place, continue adding cheese rather than assuming the lead is safe. Opponents can still reduce your total through steals and trap actions.
Best when: You lead by only a small amount.
Result: Your advantage becomes harder to erase with one rival action.
Avoid Wasting Attacks
Target selection matters more than attacking as often as possible. Disrupting last place usually provides less value than reducing the total of a player competing for the win.
Best when: Several opponents are available as targets.
Result: Each offensive action has a stronger effect on the final standings.
Complete Matches for Outfits
Cheese remaining at the end of a game contributes to your persistent cheese hoard, which unlocks cosmetic outfits. Finishing matches advances your collection even without a victory.
Best when: You are building your outfit collection.
Result: Regular play produces long-term cosmetic progress.

Mouse Trap Chain Reaction Guide
The largest piles of cheese can appear beneath the trap, making this area both rewarding and dangerous. When a rival moves into the trap zone or begins building a strong lead, activating the contraption starts a long animated chain reaction that may catch the exposed mouse.
Watch the Trap Area
Large cheese rewards attract players beneath the trap. Track which opponent is entering the danger area and how much cheese they currently hold.
Choose the Right Moment
Activate the trap when another mouse is exposed and slowing that player would meaningfully change the standings.
Swing the Boot
The chain reaction begins when the boot swings and kicks the ball into motion.
Follow the Ball
The ball rolls through the machine's obstacles, travels through the air, and lands in the bathtub section of the contraption.
Launch the Diver
The moving mechanism reaches the springboard and launches the diver, completing the final part of the Rube Goldberg-style sequence.
Resolve the Trap
The cage drops at the end of the chain reaction and determines whether the targeted mouse is caught.
